Rooted Yoga and Wellness is now Rooted Holistic Center

Jennie Claire is the founder of Rooted Holistic Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to trauma informed, donation based healing and education. She is a 500 hour certified yoga instructor, Reiki Master, trauma educator, and neuroscience informed practitioner whose work bridges lived experience with evidence based understanding of the nervous system.
Jennie is the creator of Rooted Through Recovery, a trauma informed 12 step holistic recovery model that reframes addiction and compulsive behaviors as adaptive trauma responses rather than moral failures. Her teaching integrates somatic awareness, polyvagal theory, fascia research, embodiment practices, and nervous system literacy in a way that is accessible, grounded, and deeply human.
She holds multiple certifications in trauma education, neuroscience, somatic healing, and contemplative practice. Her work is shaped not only by formal training but by lived survival through complex trauma, medical trauma, stroke, addiction recovery, and cancer treatment. That lived reality informs everything she teaches.
Jennie is also the host of the Reroot and Rise podcast, the author of Rooted Through Recovery and accompanying training manuals, and the developer of multiple trauma informed practitioner trainings. Her work centers capacity, consent, regulation, and the belief that healing is not about fixing what is broken, but supporting what has always been adaptive.
She teaches, writes, records music, and builds community with one central intention: to help people understand their nervous system so they can live with more agency, safety, and self trust.

Tamara McGovern, BSN, RN, is a woman with certifications in Reiki, Guided Meditation, Thai Massage. She is finishing up her 200 hour Trauma Informed YTT at Rooted. Her journey began in 1997 after the loss of her grandfather, where she found solace in holistic practices. Incorporating Reiki and guided meditation into her practice, she witnessed their profound impact on patients' healing journeys. Drawing from her own recovery experiences, Tamara found healing through Reiki, meditation, Thai massage, and yoga. Working in drug and alcohol rehab, she saw firsthand the benefits of holistic approaches alongside modern medicine. As a holistic therapist, Tamara empowers patients to discover themselves and cope with life's challenges through various modalities such as meditation, Reiki, Thai massage. Steve is a lifelong musician with over forty years of experience and nearly thirty years of teaching behind him. A staple of the Philadelphia music scene for decades, he has toured extensively with local bands and continues to perform regularly through corporate and wedding work, bringing professionalism, versatility, and deep musical intuition to every space he enters.
While guitar is his primary instrument, Steve is also well versed in piano, drums, and bass, giving him a broad and integrated understanding of rhythm, harmony, and musical structure. In addition to performing and teaching, he writes and records original music, with his first full length album scheduled for release this year.
Beyond his technical skill, Steve is deeply active in the recovery community and understands music as more than performance. For him, music has been a way to regulate, process, and stay connected through life’s harder chapters. That lived experience shapes how he teaches, meeting students where they are and creating an environment that feels grounded, supportive, and human.
At Rooted, Steve will be offering small, donation based group guitar lessons focused on regulation, creativity, connection, and accessibility rather than perfection or pressure. Individual lessons are also available by request. Guitars are provided for the lesson, so access is never a barrier.

Vianca is a trauma informed yoga teacher and licensed mental health clinician who creates gentle, supportive spaces for rest, reflection, and embodied awareness. Her
work is grounded in honoring the nervous system, personal choice, and the understanding that everyone carries their own lived experiences differently. Drawing
from a variety of somatic and holistic practices, Vianca offers yoga as an invitation rather than an expectation, allowing each person to move at their own pace. She
believes healing is not about fixing what is broken, but about meeting ourselves with curiosity, care, and compassion.

“Start at the beginning, move in the direction you want to go, never get to the end…it’s about the journey” I started my yoga journey in 1998 at the YMCA in Voorhees. In 1999, my much beloved teacher, Anne Foley, asked me to place my mat next to hers in the front of the room to help demonstrate poses as she walked about the room. That began my Kripalu/Iyengar/Hatha apprenticeship from 1999-to 2002. One day she handed me a AAA-I training application, told me to sign up for teacher training! I had never expressed any desire to be a teacher, just a student. I took the training and she turned over her class to me!!! I completed my Yoga Alliance 200 hour training at Experience Yoga Studios in 2010 under Jill Blumenstock and Bobbi Johnson. The program was a rich blend of Hatha, Vinyasa and Anusara based yoga. At the same time I completed a Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga program at Kripalu, a workshop with Amy Ippoliti, yoga and Yoga Nidra classes with Jennifer Reis, and a one day training with Eion Finn. Continuing my journey, I began my 500 hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2017 with Jill Blumenstock. I believe yoga happens from the inside out. When we slow down, pay attention to our bodies, and listen to the message, we expand the possibilities of our mind, body and spirit awakening our own inner teacher.
