Red Light Therapy has been used for various medical purposes, including wound healing, pain relief, and treating musculoskeletal conditions. However, recent research has shown that it can also be beneficial in managing mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
It is a non-invasive treatment that uses low-level wavelengths of red or near-infrared (NIR) light on the body or large areas of the body. During treatment, photons, or single units of light, are absorbed by photosensitive molecules in a part of your skin cells.5 In red light treatments, this can lead to reduced inflammation, increased tissue repair, and skin healing
The BioMat’s unique infrared technology penetrates at the cellular level, rapidly speeding repair and regeneration. Comprised of 18 pounds of Amethyst and heating up to 180 degrees, the BioMat can penetrate up to 8 inches inside the body. It is an FDA-approved infrared mat that is approved for the treatment of pain, stiffness, symptoms of arthritis, and muscle pain. Users report that the BioMat’s far infrared and negative ions relieve stress and improve well-being.
Cold Water Therapy has incredible benefits to body, mind and soul. Studies (and personal experience) have begun to show that cold-water immersion may improve symptoms of anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Cold water has been proven to slow down our breathing and heart rate, switching us into a state referred to as parasympathetic mode, but more commonly known as ‘rest-and-digest’.
This is relevant to our mental health because research demonstrates that prolonged and chronic stress results in changes in the brain found in anxiety and depression.
So. I’ll be hanging out at Rooted all day, welcoming summer and offering 30 minute sessions. We will begin with some meditation and intention setting prior to you taking the plunge. Once we get you in the water, we will work on breath, using the breath to stay in the moment and to settle in to the experience. You may find yourself wanting to hop out in two minutes or 12 minutes, both are fine. I will work with you, guiding you and encouraging you to be still and breath.
As one of the area's only Non-Profit 501(c)(3) wellness centers, we are increasing our offering to include a services for women traveling from out of state for Abortions.
